The wonderful combination of a gentle lush landscape, a fascinating culture, and a rich and varied wildlife means we will never be short of subjects to photograph. From the many small lakes and ‘tanks’ covered in vegetation with smart Pheasant-tailed Jacanas delicately picking their way through the flowering lotus to mighty Asian Elephants grazing yards from our vehicle, from beautiful Buddha statues of all sizes and towering stupas surrounded by palm trees to vivid birds and stunning butterflies, there is something to enthrall on every turn, and throughout the tour we’ll find the wildlife, and especially the birds, remarkably confiding.

Day 01

Arriving: TBA

→ Arrive at the BIA transfer to Negombo.
→ Check in to the hotel and unwind.

Negombo City
Located just 20 minutes from the Bandaranaike International Airport, Negombo is a lively coastal city known for its long sandy beaches, vibrant fish market, and colonial heritage. The city reflects a blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences, visible in its churches, forts, and canals. Negombo is also famous for its lagoon, fresh seafood, and bustling nightlife, making it a popular starting or ending point for travelers exploring Sri Lanka.

Day 02

→ Enjoy breakfast at hotel.
→ Check out and proceed to Sigiriya.
→ Arrive in Sigiriya, check in at the hotel and unwind.
→ Later embark on an exciting afternoon jeep safari at the Minneriya National Park. 

Colombo / Sigiriya / Minneriya
(Approx. 04hrs drive time)

Located in Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, Minneriya National Park is a paradise for wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts.
Best known for “The Gathering” the world-famous seasonal congregation of wild elephants, this park offers a front-row seat to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles in Asia.
The park spans over 8,800 hectares and is home to a diverse range of animals, including spotted deer, sambar, leopards, sloth
bears, and over 160 species of birds. The centerpiece is the historic Minneriya Tank, a large reservoir built by an ancient king, which becomes a vital water source during the dry season.

Day 03

→ An early start for the day with a light snack, by 0530hrs prepare to ascend on the Majestic Lion Rock Fortress and
marvel at the beauty from above.
→ Return to the hotel and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
→ Spend the rest of the day at leisure. 

Sigiriya

Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rising
nearly 200 meters (660 feet) above the surrounding plains, this massive rock fortress was built in the 5th century by King
Kasyapa as a royal palace and stronghold.

At the base, you’ll walk through beautifully landscaped water gardens before climbing a series of staircases that lead past
ancient frescoes and the famous Lion’s Paw Terrace, once the entrance to the royal palace. From the summit, you’re
rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views and a glimpse into Sri Lanka’s rich history and architectural genius.

Day 04

→ Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
→ Proceed to Polonnaruwa and visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and enjoy cycling tour.
→ Return to hotel and unwind. 

Sigiriya / Polonnaruwa (Approx. 01hrs 10mins drive time)

Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Sri Lanka’s most significant and well-preserved ancient cities.
Serving as the island’s second capital after the fall of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa flourished between the 11th and 13th centuries AD under the rule of King Vijayabahu I, Parakramabahu I, and Nissankamalla.

The city showcases the grandeur of Sinhalese civilization, featuring impressive ruins of royal palaces, audience halls,

intricately carved stone temples, Buddhist stupas, and colossal statues such as the Gal Vihara – a set of remarkable rock-
cut Buddha images.

Sigiriya / Dambulla / Kandy (Approx. 03hrs drive time)

The Dambulla Cave Temples, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, form one of the most revered and best-
preserved Buddhist temple complexes in Sri Lanka. Declassed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this sacred site dates

back to the 1st century BC and has been a place of worship for over two millennia. Located atop a 160-meter-high rock, the complex consists of five main caves, each adorned with stunning murals and over 150 statues of Lord Buddha, along with depictions of Hindu deities and ancient kings. The walls and ceilings are completely covered with vivid frescoes, illustrating key events in the life of the Buddha and the history of Sri Lankan
Buddhism. 

Day 06

→ Take a stroll at Royal Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
→ Explore the Kandy City.
→ Return to the hotel and unwind. 

Kandy

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) is one of the most revered religious sites in Sri Lanka, located in the heart of the historic city of Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha, making it a focal point of Buddhist veneration both locally and internationally. Built within the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, the temple’s architecture reflects traditional Kandyan style, richly adorned with intricate carvings, gold-plated decorations, and ancient frescoes. The relic itself is enshrined in a series of golden caskets, and while it is not directly visible to the public, it is deeply honored during daily rituals and annual ceremonies.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya Just a few kilometers from Kandy lies the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, the largest and most celebrated botanical garden in Sri Lanka. Spread across 147 acres along the Mahaweli River, this garden was once reserved exclusively for Kandyan royalty before being transformed into a world-class botanical collection during the British colonial era. Today, it is home to more than 4,000 species of plants, ranging from tropical palms and exotic flowering trees to medicinal herbs and rare orchids. The Avenue of Royal Palms is one of its most photographed features, while the Orchid House dazzles visitors with over 300 exquisite varieties. Other highlights include the Giant Java Fig Tree, whose sprawling canopy is a natural wonder, the Cannonball Tree with its striking flowers and fruits, and vast bamboo groves that create dramatic landscapes. In addition to its botanical treasures, the gardens are rich in history and charm, offering peaceful walking paths, shaded lawns, and a tranquil escape from the bustle of Kandy. Visitors typically spend 2–3 hours exploring on foot, though electric buggies are available for hire.

Nanu Oya / Ella (Approx. 03hrs train ride)

The train ride from Nanu Oya to Ella is widely regarded as one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world, offering a breathtaking passage through Sri Lanka’s central highlands. This segment of the country’s historic upcountry railway line winds through lush tea plantations, rolling green hills, misty mountain ranges, waterfalls, and quaint rural villages. Passengers are treated to panoramic views from open windows and doors, as the train snakes through dramatic landscapes and over iconic bridges such as the Nine Arches Bridge near Ella.

Day 08

The Nine Arch Bridge, also known as the Bridge in the Sky, is one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic architectural landmarks,
located between Ella and Demodara in the heart of the island’s hill country. Constructed during the British colonial period in the early 20th century, this stunning viaduct is made entirely of stone, brick, and cement, with no steel used in its structure. It spans 91 meters in length, stands 24 meters high, and features
nine elegant arches, harmoniously blending into the lush jungle and tea-covered hills that surround it.

Ziplining is a thrilling adventure activity where participants glide along a high-tension steel cable from one platform to
another, usually set between hills, treetops, or cliffs. Suspended in a secure harness, riders experience the sensation of
flying while enjoying panoramic views of the natural landscape below. Perfect for adventure lovers, ziplining combines excitement, speed, and scenic beauty into one unforgettable experience.

Little Adam’s Peak is one of the most popular and accessible hikes in Ella, offering stunning panoramic views of Sri
Lanka’s central highlands. Named for its resemblance in shape to the sacred Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), this smaller
counterpart rises to about 1,141 meters above sea level and can be reached via a relatively easy trail.

Day 09

Ella / Yala (Approx. 03hrs drive time)
Ravana Falls is one of the most famous and picturesque waterfalls in Sri Lanka, located just a few kilometers from the hill town of Ella. Cascading from a height of approximately 25 meters (82 feet), the waterfall tumbles over a rocky cliff in multiple streams, creating a dramatic and photogenic natural spectacle—especially during the rainy season when the flow is at its strongest.

Day 10

→ An early start to the day, enjoy a morning session of an exciting Jeep safari at the Yala National Park with a light
snack.
→ Return to the hotel and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
→ Check out from the hotel and proceed to Tangalle.
→ Arrive in Galle, check in at the hotel and unwind. 

Yala / Galle (Approx. 03hrs drive time)

Yala National Park is Sri Lanka’s most famous and second largest national park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and
exceptional wildlife viewing opportunities. Covering approximately 978 square kilometers in the southeast region of the island, Yala boasts a diverse range of habitats including forests, grasslands, wetlands, and lagoons.

The park is particularly celebrated for its high concentration of leopards, making it one of the best places in the world
to spot this elusive big cat in the wild. In addition to leopards, Yala is home to elephants, sloth bears, water buffalo,
crocodiles, and a vast variety of bird species, including peacocks and migratory birds.

Galle/Bentota

Galle is considered to be one of Sri Lanka’s most historically interesting towns. Built on a premonitory rock in the
south of the Island. It was a major port until about 100 years, but today still handles shipping and sailing boats in the
natural harbor.
Stroll around the Lighthouse and harbor or visit the old town where you can see the traditional lace makers and
wood carvers. An Opportunity to purchase some the finest shell-craft souvenirs in the world.

Day 12

→ An early start to the day, enjoy a morning session of an exciting Jeep safari at the Yala National Park with a light
snack.
→ Return to the hotel and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
→ Check out from the hotel and proceed to Tangalle.
→ Arrive in Galle, check in at the hotel and unwind.
